Position Summary:
 
This position is responsible for operating and monitoring the performance of the generator plant at the
KEMA Laboratories – Chalfont facility. This position is responsible for assuring that the conduct of
operations activities are performed in a safe, efficient manner, and in accordance with all KEMA Powertest
and industry standards, while meeting the KEMA Powertest requirements for the Customer.
 
Position Description:
Under the direction of the Engineering and Maintenance Manager the generator operator:
  • Operates generators and other rotating and stationary equipment in manual and semi‐automatic modes.
  • Records and maintains daily conditional logs of equipment being used.
  • Performs operational and condition‐based inspections and tests on equipment.
  • Records statistical data concerning plant operations. Charts test results for trend analysis and maintains accurate records of analyses and test results. Evaluates data and writes reports as required.
  • Performs power switching activities in Low Voltage and Medium Voltage equipment of the Laboratory, and executes Lockout‐Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
  • Maintains and repairs malfunctions of the generator plant and associated equipment including gauges, breakers, relays, and other auxiliary and control components.
  • Assists in overseeing major repairs and overhauls of generators and other equipment

  • Strong computer skills in MS Word, Excel, Access, VISIO, etc.

Work Environment:

This position requires an individual who can adapt to changing situations based on the quantity of work,
the demands of customers and management. The position requires an individual who can devote the
required amount of time to successfully accomplish the short‐ and long‐term goals of the organization.
This position may be required to work alternative shifts as necessary including weekends. This position
may be required to work overtime as necessary. This position is hourly and non‐exempt from overtime.

  • The noise level in the work environment can be moderately loud.
